About Monica Ord

Monica Ord is a contemporary abstract artist working in oil and mixed media on a grand architectural scale. Her original paintings range from five to fifteen feet and are collected by interior designers, celebrities, luxury developers, hospitality groups, and private collectors throughout the United States and internationally.

Ord’s path to painting was anything but linear. Before becoming an artist, she spent more than a decade as a Vice President at a publicly traded biomedical company, where she worked to improve global access to HIV/AIDS treatments. Her career included high-level collaborations with global leaders such as Nelson Mandela, Sir Richard Branson, Nobel Prize winner Luc Montagnier, and multiple U.S. Surgeon Generals.

In the midst of her corporate career, a rare and life-threatening medical condition led to nine major surgeries, years of hospitalization, and a coma. This profound experience permanently reset her sense of time. She made a life-altering decision: she would no longer spend another day doing anything she did not love.

Art, which had always lingered in the background, moved to the center. She began painting small abstractions in oil and mixed media, exploring an emotional language of color, movement, and depth. What started as a deeply therapeutic personal practice in 2022 quickly evolved into a thriving career. Within weeks of launching her first Instagram account, renowned designer Mary McDonald acquired four of her early paintings. Since then, more than one hundred interior designers have commissioned or specified her work for luxury residential, hospitality, commercial, and development projects worldwide.

Her paintings have been featured in Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, and numerous other publications. Notable placements include Tristan Thompson’s residence, eight pieces collected by Kris Jenner (featured on Season 7 of The Kardashians), and collaborations with Baccarat, Christopher Guy, Clive Christian, Eichholtz, Discovery Land Company, and the Bulgari Resort in Dubai.

Ord’s collectors include Kris Jenner, Tristan Thompson, Sir Richard Branson, Ciara and Russell Wilson, Mookie Betts, Blake Snell, Jon Rahm, Lori Greiner, Jerome Bettis, and many more private collectors around the world.

Her large-scale works are celebrated for their powerful presence, rich texture, and emotional depth. Based in California, Monica Ord continues to create art that sits at the intersection of contemporary abstraction, luxury interiors, and personal resilience. When not in the studio,she spends her time outdoors with her two daughters, Jaymi and Mackenzie.
